Meet CELINA LOPEZ
Celina is a proud lifelong resident of the city of Ontario who has been a part of this community for over 40 years. As a housing counselor, community liaison, and mother, Celina is committed to improving the quality of life for all residents.
WHY I’M RUNNING
Like many of you, I grew up attending public schools from Hawthorne Elementary to Chaffey High School. At the age of 18 I began working with the YMCA, where I served our youth providing support in afterschool programs. I went on to pursue careers rooted in public service and education, serving as the Latino Health Collaborative Manager – where I led the first “State of the Latino Health in the Inland Region” event – and coordinating community workshops and programs on healthy lifestyles and health policy changes.
In 2008, I was an advocate who saved hundreds of homeowners from becoming houseless in the foreclosure crisis. Today, I serve as a housing counselor with 25+ years of experience and a proven track record of helping people secure housing, working with agencies and local municipalities to address the complex housing crisis. I counsel clients on home ownership, budgeting, debt reduction, and education. I love helping people achieve their dream of securing a place to call home.
I am running for city council because I want to create better opportunities for all people and serve as a voice for the people of Ontario. I’m honored to have the support of local business owners, neighbors, and community leaders. I’m qualified and fully prepared to step into this position to rebuild our economy and help guide Ontario to a bright future for my daughter and all generations to come.
